Death wish?

Only a fool would join the military in this time of oil wars.

Put down the doughnuts and join up, you could drop a couple of your chins that way.

Seriously why is this asshat not banned yet. Every single one of his posts suck ass.

That movie kicked ass, I think it'd be pretty cool to be one of those guys, except for the dying-at-the-end part, but man those Spartans are hardcore.

Thank you everyone for your support and words of encouragement. It does mean a lot. As far as enlisting during "these times" or during "this war," I'll be the first to say that I don't necessarily agree with the war but someone has to do it because that decision is already made. I have a lot to gain from my time in the Corps and hope that I do my country proud.

Man this is pissing me off. I can't post more than a couple sentences at a time in one thread or the forum sh!ts the bed. This forum software has been broken for weeks and it's only getting worse. Now I have to break up my posts into multiple one line ****** posts in order to post anything. What a joke.

Ok I'm back. Time Warner has been having massive problems in my area. The post was not huge or anything, but I just didn't want to retype the whole thing and yes it sucks. So this post won't reflect the emotion in my original post. :D

My post was not drivel. It may be to you, who has a clear cut stance on combat operations taking place. I wasn't giving him advice, I simply don't want another person I'm associated with (even an internet person) to die in a completely useless "war". After attending two funerals for friends I went to high school and played sports with, I really don't see the need for anyone else as young as him to die for no good reason. You may see people close to you die on a daily basis, but I don't, and I don't want to continue to see it happen.

Saying thoes types of aforementioned things is a natural reaction, it shows that you actually have some semblance of compassion in your body. If you think that it gets repetitive then I have nothing but pity for you. Do you go off on a rant and bitch at your mother when she tells you to be safe? I'm going to guess that you don't. I get sick of hearing people say "people are stupid" and any number of other repetitive statements made on this forum and in real life, but I know enough not to flex my ego and call it drivel.

Not everyone is cut out to be part of a military. It doesn't make you any less of a man or show a gain in testicular fortitude. Even bringing that up as a factor shows you probably don't know a damn thing about being a "man". So soldiers are trained in the ability to destroy people, well good for them because that really makes them superior men with huge balls.

I serve my country right here in the homeland. I pay my taxes, do volunteer work and work a job that keeps the economy rolling. I don't need to pick up a weapon, kill people half way across the world and convince myself that I'm bringing "democracy" to a culture 25 times older than my own. If my country was threatened and I needed to fight to keep it in place, then yes I would and I would die trying. But don't tell me that these operations are keeping America safe and serving in the interests of its people, because that is a load of BS and everyone knows it.

You're in the military and that's your thing. All the power to you. But don't tell me that I, or anyone else, is less of an American because we don't believe in the ridiculous mess the American government has gotten us into. Many, MANY people think it's absolutely crazy to enlist in the military now, even seasoned veterans. I'd really like to hear some GREAT reasons for hauling off and invading Iraq, while countries like Iran and N. Korea thrive, and why I'm so crazy for not joining that pointless fight. Entertain me, and don't give me the same canned answers this useless administration has, because even a chimp with down syndrome can see through thoes.

For what it's worth, I didn't take your original post as offensive. It's exactly what my best friend told me but then her bro just got back from Iraq and she's still a little worked up about it.

Sorry guys, but I can't post anything longer than a paragraph. Mabey it's a new rule here. If you have the writing ability greater than a 3rd grader, you're out of luck.
