Folding@Home Strikes Back: Tom's Vs Anand Part 2 (March 12th)

Hey folders! Are you ready to go head to head against teams Tom's Hardware in another exciting folding competition?

I've already coordinated with Ryan, and our Tom's Hardware team and they are ready to face off to see who are the true distributed computing champs. Can you wipe the floor with them again?

The Folding@Home competition is set to start March 12th. Would you all mind helping with recruiting and promotion efforts? I understand that we reached out to other forums last year. We'll be doing some promotion via the AnandTech and Tom's Hardware sites/social channels, but any organic outreach by you would be awesome!

I am working on securing a Child's Play donation, from Purch but have not confirmed it.

Q: What is the duration of the competition?

I will likely participate for the duration, whatever it is. Though I will probably split my efforts for the upcoming PrimeGrid race.

You know I am in, but at only 12 million ppd, I sold 6 cards since Xmas.

Better to put it on AT's front page ASAP. We'll need as many helping hands as possible because I believe this announcement caught some of TeAm seasoned folders off-guard.

When Standford's servers aren't down, I have a GTX 1080 and 1070 crunching 24/7, so I should be good for 1 - 1.2 million PPD until it starts to get hot down here in NC.

I read this on foldingforum.org:

From FAHControl, select "Configure", navigate to the last tab "Expert" and under "Extra client options",
looks like setting

Code:
client-type
advanced
is a way to get WUs within one or two attempts.
It's mostly working for me. I sure hope the servers aren't down next week.

Well, they went down sometime yesterday, and came back up late this morning. I lost about 10 million points.

I assume we don't have to "sign up", just show up?? TA vs TH for five days.

Bring it. 🙂

Also, I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else yet, but our team is getting ready to move up a spot to #16 in the standings. 🙂

Well, I'm in, with a i5-7400 and GTX1060 3GB, at least. That's maybe all I can afford to donate this month, I had already budgeted including my mining income, kind of down to the wire. 🙁

Thanks for setting those up Ken g6! We haven't set a start time yet. Do you remember what time it started for the last competition?
@petrusbroder likes to start at 18:00 UTC.

Hey, I have a 1060 3GB. It gets up to 400kppd if you set it up right. Don't forget you can mine FoldingCoin by setting up a new user name with foldingcoin.net. I'm just not sure if you can turn it into real money - the fees appear to be terrible.

I will do what I can. I was having problems during with my card during the Holiday race. Hopefully that doesn't happen again, but either way, I'm in!
