I'm probably going to be ordering an Athlon XP 1800+ tomorrow to replace my aging 800MHz Duron. That should help a little, too. 🙂

I just took the plunge, placed orders for new Epox 8K9a2+, 2600xp/333, ATI 9500 128mb, 512 pc 3200 Corsair ram and new server tower...whew! I got tired of waiting for Via to release the kt400a chipset, ...I kept hearing voices telling to buy now....buy now....

Can't wait to see how this baby will crunch wu's 🙂

I'd love to, but at this point I don't have (and can't afford) another Socket A motherboard to put it on. Thus, it will go into storage in my closet either until I can get $200 for a new motherboard + RAM for my main rig (freeing the current one for the duron), or until Newegg gets some of those famous Epox boards in refurb for $40 or $50. 🙂

Woah, this must be the time to upgrade. Sounds like you've got a pretty nice system, Rusty. I kept telling myself that I should wait for Athlon 64 or Opteron, but I decided to give in and get an intermediate upgrade now that the "slower" fast Athlon XPs are getting cheaper.

Oh yea, and BTW, I decided to get an XP1700+ instead of the 1800+ because I felt I should get an extra fan for my case (an Enermax - sp? - thermal self-adjusting 80mm one) to deal with the extra heat. 😱
