Folding@Home GPU error w/ Vista Ultimate 64-bit

So, I try to run the Folding@Home GPU console client v5.91 Beta3. I run it as administrator, and it sets up the config file, and downloads the core and work. But when it engages the core, I get the error that it is looking for "d3dx9_30.dll".
Thinking that the "d3dx9.dll" file in C:/Windows/system32/ isn't good enough for F@H, I copied the d3dx9_30.d.ll file from my up-to-date WindowsXP Pro install to the aforementioned folder in Vista, and still no luck.

Thanks in advance for any help. My X1900XT is begging to be kept occupied all day.

Edit: I was wrong, and I'm very glad to hear that. It's great that you got it working.

Unfortunately, the latest information that I could find indicates that x64 operating systems aren't supported. The chances of being able to make it work are almost nil. :(

Download Directx 9.0c seems to fix a lot of the dx errors on mine not 64 bit but might still be the same.

I used a mirror rather than microsoft, The microsoft one appears to work but still had issues, mirrored one actually updates everything and seems to work better.

Got mine here

Something is wonky with ther microsoft one, same results on 2 different installs.

also vista doesnt support d3d sound so you may try finding new audio drivers too. only supports open gl from what I read.

I have onboard sound realtek, I am using the 1.63 drivers without issue.

I just installed DirectX 9.0c straight from the Microsoft website, and Folding@Home GPU just completed its first WU. It took 11 minutes (I remember it took 8 or 9 under XP), but CPU utilization on my C2D E6600 is at ~10% instead of 50%, and the Vista interface (Aero and Flip3D) is still snappy and responsive, something I couldn't say about XP when the F@H GPU client was running.

Sweet ! Glad to hear its working I love vista it really is a nice os, my only gripe is the way it has the start menu/programs set up.

I dislike the no refresh button in ie but its all good, fire fox and a seperate folder with all my shortcuts in it on the desktop fixes that for now lol

Glad you got it going

You did mean 11 minutes per frame, right?

LOL, yes 11 minutes per frame. It even keeps at it with the screen saver going.
