Welcome to the Folding@Home team IsLNdbOi

I haven't heard much fuss about dying work units or the like lately. It is sooooooooo good to have the worst of that behind us!

Keep up the great folding

Actually I've had an unusual amout of EUE`s lately, 3 different WU`s in the last few days. One of them today wouldn`t even complete 1 frame. I`ve also had one WU which kept stalling in the middle, and trashing the FAH install.

Thanks for the stats Gleem!:D

mjquilly, who are you?

mjquilly, who are you?

I looked at my logs after reading your post and saw that indeed, at ~50% the client appeared to stop working and there were some tries to connect to report results of the previous WU. I think the 50% might have been coincidence. (waited for 1 hour before re-trying to submit which is ~1/2 a WU)

In my case, the clients all resumed crunching after their failed result send attempts. I don't know why your clients crashed during this.

The WUs you had that failed immediately when they were downloaded are seen by a lot of people. The fah people say this is a result of "overzealous error checking" and have pulled most of the offending WUs. But agail, these didn't crash most people's installs. The clients normally just download 'partial' results and go on to the next WU.

If you see this kind of stuff again (I think it's a pretty good bet that we will), just let the client continue and see if it cleans up after itself before any intervention on your part. I suspect they'll be OK most of the time.

-Sid

(I forgot the obligatory: You are using the most recent CUDA (177.84) drivers and fah client?)

Probably a fluke that it crashed the client. The first time it stalled I was playing a game and didn't notice right away. I noticed after a couple of hours and killed the client thinking it was likely my fault. When the client was restarted I kept getting the client-core communications error. I fixed that, got the same WU again and let it run, it stalled again in the same spot and then I took action by deleting the work dir, core, queue, etc so I could get a new WU.

Everything seems fine again, I've completed a couple of WU's since. I think I was just unlucky getting so many in such a short period of time, it had been a really long time before this week that I'd seen a EUE. I'm using 177.98 drivers and the latest SMP MPICH clients.

EDIT:
So right after writing this my PC BSOD'd, crap, luckily I didn't loose the WU's this time. An interesting note, when I rebooted I ran SyncToy and it said some of the WU's files were in use, after a reboot again they were not and I haven't lost any work.

mjquilly
, good to finally see you here, what are you testing?
