Thanks GLeeM!
Congrats to MM's, Climbers, and keep it going everyone, especially Top-Producers.
Welcome to the TeAm, Yooshaw!

I make 300,000 MM tomorrow. 😀

EDIT: I should really fire up my E6400. I'd just need to back up everything and reinstall Ubuntu to 64 bit. Would any of you fold on your webserver? I mean, it's not like webserving is very CPU intensive.

Thanks Gleem for the stats. Welcome Yooshaw, to team anandtech!🙂
Congrats to all the MM's. Team stats looking great!
Fold on! 🙂

Thanks GLeeM!

Looks like I'll average about 720,000 points per month (30 days) at my current rate.
All depends on my Elec Bill though. I'll have to see if I can keep it up.

How many days are in a month where you live ? ;>)...In the last 24 hour period you posted 18,700 points, which is very respectable output. At that rate you'll average 561,000 points per month, a staggering total. You'll need 24,000 PPD on average to hit 720,000 per month.

That would be correct.
The 18700 was with 3 GPU clients only. I now have 4 GPU clients and 1 SMP client going.
😉

And depending on my light bill, I still have 2x 8800GTS640's, an 8600GT for 3 mor GPU clients and a E6420@3GHz and a Q6600 for two more SMP clients. I wasn't factoring these in yet. After enabling these, I should have somewhere in the neighborhood of 33000 to 34000 PPD. x30 days = 1,017,000 PPM.

Not quite up to Mark yet, but working on it. 😀

This is all from a grand total of 3 computers BTW and the only thing overclocked is that E6420 to 3GHz. It's a good time to be a cruncher for us all.

That's a lot of horsepower, keysplayr2003. You deserve kudos for your willingness to donate to the cause.

In addition to normal household usage I'm running 3 GPU clients and the PS3 program 24/7 and pay around $275/month to the power company for the privilege. By the end of this week I'll have another GPU client up and running, which leads me to this question: How do I run two GPU clients on a machine with two video cards?

To run 2 gpu clients, copy the entire folder for gpu1, then make a new folder, and put everything in it, except, empty the work directory under it, and delete the queue.dat, the unitinfo.* and the client.cfg. Then copy the icon you use to launch it, and edit the copy as appropriate to the new place, and add " -configonly" and run it. Make sure you set the machineid to one not used. I think it defaults to 2, so make it 3 or 4.

Then get rid of the configonly flag, and run.

BTW, what happened to Gravity ? Did we scare him off with all these GPU clients ? 😉

Vista, XP or other?

Thanks for the instructions (they work for Vista 32, I'll assume) ...the new card (gtx 260) arrives Friday, I'll give it a go then.

Gravity mentioned something about shutting down the crunchfarm while Gustav was around.

Gustav ???
Whose farm ?

As for vista, I have no idea, it works under XP and 2k. I assume that's why keys asked, maybe there are other things required to get it to work under vista.

Yup. There are no issues for XP. There is however the Windows Vista WDDM limitation.
Only 1 graphics driver instance at a time. In order to be able to allow folding to be done on the second card in a Vista system, a second monitor (or second input on a modern LCD screen) has to be connected to the second card, and then extend the desktop to the second monitor (or LCD second port). This tricks Vista and forces it to load a "second" driver instance for the second card to utilize CUDA based apps or PhysX. Only then will you be able to fold on the second card. This is a workaround for now. Nvidia is working on drivers to incorporate it's own workaround for this limitation.

You have any questions during your setup, just let me know.

P.S. That would be Hurricane Gustav, and Gravity's crunchfarm in case you were kidding. 😀

Welcome to the team Yooshaw

Great crunching from everyone!

Thanks for the stats GLeeM!

Yes, this is a limiting factor for many.

A trick is to use the most energy efficient parts that give the most PPD for $ of electricity for a 24/7 folding computer.

Another trick is to run what is comfortable now and add another rig in several months. Or after Holiday season when you aren't putting out for lights. Or after air conditioning season ends. If you are in an area with winter, it is much cheaper to run lots of computers because they help to heat the house. In a month or two or less, many will fire up computers they had to shut down for summer.

P.S. That would be Hurricane Gustav, and Gravity's crunchfarm in case you were kidding. 😉

Oh, the hurricane, he lives in the Texas coast ? and why is part of his farm running, and not the rest ??

No dude, hurricane Gustavo shut down most of my boxes. Until power is restored, I'll be sending in what I can.

Keep folding,

Gravity

Oh, the hurricane, he lives in the Texas coast ? and why is part of his farm running, and not the rest ??

Because, Grasshoppa, my farm is vast only partially supported by generator backup. Additionally, #2 folder, the internet is required to send completed units to the mothership. I have partial connectivity and some of my regional boxes are unable to communicate. Give me a week or two and all will be .... improved!
