Keep folding,

Points vary between 100, 125, 250, 385 per WU...what's constant is the PPD, right around 1000.

Thanks m8! that makes me feel much better. I would have thunk that they would have used the larger processing capacity to crunch something bigger or more complex.

I think that's the crux of it. The PS3 is very fast, but also very limited in what kind of work it can do. This trade-off has led to all the discussions ( <-- Sid was PC.. I want it on the record!) about where the most science is being accomplished. As usual, no straight answers from our F@H scientists on that front.
blazing fast, but rudimentary vs. not so fast, but highly complex computations.... I don't know there is a comparable measure of one over the other... I do hear Stanford repeat consistantly that both efforts are valuable to their scientific goals.

I was thinking that they could get smaller pieces (WUs) back faster and not have as many needing to be resent after Preferred deadline.

But after looking at the PS3 WUs deadlines I now think that maybe there is another reason for small WUs.
Many game console owners would not want to run 24/7. If the WUs are small it increases the chances of getting results back before the deadline and reduces the number of WUs needing to be sent again. This would keep the science moving along.
