Thanks to all who contributed - big and small 😀
And thanks to those who are crunching a WU and will be on the list soon 😉

Folding@Home TeAm #198

MDE's setup guide.

Hmm, this is a new one. One of my Folding instances is saying "Writing checkpoint files" 4-5 times before the normal "Writing local files" between each incremental percentage. Anyone know what would be causing this?

Thanks for the stats, Gleem 😎

My production was down due to too much playing with beta OSes (I'll leave you to guess ; ), but being back in XP x64 for good for a while should help things, as well as a nice dump from my remote box that will show up this evening. 😀

I googled up this response to that question. It seems to be a normal response to when the protein being simulated actually starts folding 😉 More into in the first reply to the starting post: http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?p=135833&

Welcome back Hurricane Andrew 🙂 I thought you should be back soon and almost put it in this thread.

Also: nobody noticed I had the wrong date in the title 😕

This could be several things:

1. The WU is worth lots of points and will take longer to finish each percentage, you should notice there is 15 minutes between each checkpoint (the default minutes).

2. You may have a WU that is using a different core than what you are used to seeing.

3. Your client was not shut down properly the last time. If you lose power or if for any reason the client is not shut down properly, the client assumes F@H was the reason for the computer crash and runs without optimizations to prevent it from happening again, which takes MUCH longer. If you see "Using standard loops" in FAHlog.txt, no optimizations are being used.

To get optimizations back, shut down the client properly and restart it.

To prevent it from happening again, add the -forceasm flag to the startup shortcut.
