Not sure I understand. You can use PC-anywhere or similar software to remote in, but it must be installed, and running for the remote to work. Is that what you mean ?

I know just enough to be dangerous........... 😀
I have never run a completely headless cluster, but I have used kvm switches to run four workstation clusters. Also you can use programs like pcanywhere or radmin to access remotely. I have done both, but those programs cost money. True headless clusters are above my .............head 😛

On cards with two GPUs don't you have to use a dongle - something to fool the operating system into thinking there is a monitor connected to the second port to get it to fold?

I'm guessing that something similar might be needed to GPU fold headless?

There's got to be someone who knows about this!

I just permanently tasked my GeForce GTX260 Core 216 with Folding, will be bringing an 8600 GT back online to fold, still got my old faithful Athlon XP folding, and need to add MOAR.

I'm with ya mrSheiK! Added a couple of very old boxes today. Single core AMD boxes that will work smaller units. Added another 8800gt and need a bigger power supply for another 9800gtx2.

18 IS doable!!

Just set up the MPICH SMP client on the same computer that's folding with the GTX260-C216, wasn't difficult at all, much easier IMO than the DEINO client.

Currently Folding with:

Xeon X3360 (C2Q Q9550) @ 3.57 GHz - SMP Client
nVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216

nVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ @ 2.5 GHz - Regular Client

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (stock speed) - Regular Client

Will probably be bringing a Phenom X3 8650 and another Athlon XP online to fold. Team AnandTech for #1 😛
