MDE's setup guide.

EOC stats

F@H Stats

Number 2 son (Jaron, 16yrs) wants to learn to program :)

So I ordered a book and downloaded VS C# Express.

We are both learning, I have a little VB background.

To motivate myself, I am considering making a program to do the stats (or at least help automate part of the process)!

I will be asking for ideas/input on what you want on the stats thread and might need help on how to program the best way :D

Number of WUs completed will be easy and should not take up too much room.

We would be able to have Milestones at whatever points we want. Suggestions?

OK! We have a suggestion:

"As for the milestones the more the better if it keeps people motivated. How about every 2.5k up to 20k then every 5k up to 50k then every 25k after that."

I think there should be another jump, like after 150k or 250k to 50K increments.

How about hearing from some oldtimers? Should they be more/less often?

Holy crap! Almost 2,000 points and the best I could do was #9? Way to go TeAm!

I added a few boxes today. Six dual core Intels that should boost my production. The only problem is the folks using them have this nasty habit of turning them off at night and over the weekend, so I may not see much of a bump until next week. Speaking of next week, 2 more should come online, along with 6 or so single core year old Dell small form-factor PC's. Just in time too, Sniderhouse is kicking my butt lately! (I knew he was just toying with me :D)

     Those were for you, Sniderhouse....

     These are for the TeAm. Keep on crunching! I lost a dear sister-in-law to Leukemia, and we need to find a cure for it, and a host of other diseases as well!

Amen to that.

Thanks to GLeeM for the stats, as always.

Hooray for my first 2 GPU WUs making up for this big honkin 21xx eating up my CPU client. 660 points where before there were none.

Congratulations to the MM's .

Thanks GLeeM.

I'm not sure what the happy medium for benchmarks would be, but the later ones should be somewhat closer together. IMHO Maybe 50,000 or 100,000.

Use the Who Wants to be a Millionaire cutoff numbers as milestones. :)

I believe they are:

1,000
2,000
4,000
8,000
16,000
32,000
64,000
128,000
250,000
500,000
1,000,000

and then every million after that.

Its pretty sparsely spaced, but, maybe that's better...

:( My sincerest sympathies for your tremendous lost, Hurricane :(

My company recently cleaned out it's Computer room storage "Bone Yard" and sent several pallets of pc stuff (P 3's and some damaged laptops {Sales Reps}) out the door via a Long Island Computer Liquidator outfit.

I can't at this time purchase new PC equipment to add to my 4 PC "farm" (Victory Garden?) but was hoping I could score on some of this used stuff (I don't pay for electricity at my Co-op since it's included in my maintenance - so thats a Win-Win situation for me, compaired to the other crunchers who worry about electric bills and trying to justify them to the Misses!). Alas, those hard noses at work would not donate/offer for some small $'s. They decided its better to PAY a liquidator to take it off their hands.

There was a post in the "hot sales" group which pointed out web sites which offered old pc stuff for sale (hmm...is this what those "ebayers" do for some quick cash?) from gov & edu places. This gives me an idea to call around the NYC area to the local colleges & see if they donate/sell their old pc stuff so I can do my small part to get those cures to come down the pipeline a little quicker...

Yeah, corporate disposal policies can be lined with huge amounts of red tape. Given all the privacy issues, data loss, etc. it's tough to really blame them. I know, because I'm THE IT department at a small two branch community bank. Still, there are often some items that can be donated such as monitors, printers and such.

Keep on plugging away, as every little bit helps!
