The Quad Box SMP time is now down to 13+min per frame.
The GPU2 Client is now sublight! Time is now 50+ seconds per frame!
- at 55 seconds/frame average this would give an output of 2,540 daily points just from the GPU2 client!

Now to concentrate on the AMD Brisbain 1.9 box thats cutting it's teeth on an SMP and a GPU1 Client (the SMP is running at 90% CPU utilization and the GPU is taking up the rest).
I think I will shut down the SMP and see what the GPU's Frame time is (currently around 8minutes 30 seconds) by itself, then running it with a 5.04 client. After this will run the box with just the SMP at 100% CPU utilization and see how many points that generates. This will take about a weeks time for proper observations. A progress report will follow after that time.

This (frame times changing so much) doesn't seem like normal behavior. Could you check like at least ten frames and get an average? Or maybe easier, the total time to finish the WU and then figure the ppd?

Or is maybe the CPU throttling down and then not speeding up like it should? Like in this thread over in CPUs and Overclocking?

A 97 point WU at 55 sec. = 1524 ppd (call it 1500 ppd for time to up/download)
A 1760 pt SMP at 13+ = 1800-1950 ppd (depending on what "+" is)
With these high performance clients you need to be exact to the second.
You are close to what you got with 2 SMP! It would be nice if they upped the points a little, you are using a little more electricity and expensive high tech hardware.

I botched da math...your figures are correct...sorry for the mistakes.

The SMP's 13+minutes was at the beginning. It's at frame 97 and the times per frame is now 15 1/2minutes.

I'll keep running this setup for another day or 2. Will switch back to Insidious's 2SMP on a Quad setup to bring the Quad rig back to producing 4k - 5+k daily points until Stanford revises it's GPU2 Client points upward. Shame to lose that point production off of the GPU.🙁

I was waiting for someone that is familiar with your Athlon 64 X2 3800 to help, but I'll do what I can until someone else chimes in.

The highest point per day (ppd) client is the SMP release. The problem, well one of them, is that there is a short deadline for SMP work units (WUs).

SMP client is a high-performance client and so the deadlines are very short. If a computer cannot finish a WU by the deadline no points will be given.
For instance, my old Dual Xeon 1.6@2.5 (with small L2 cache) just got a p3065 with a Final Deadline of 4.4 days. It is taking 58 minutes per percent (frame) and will take 4.03 days to finish. This is cutting it close, if the computer is down for only a short while, I will not finish in time :roll:

If we don't hear from someone that knows this CPU soon I would suggest starting a new thread, that way more crunchers will see it.

I had to tweak my PCs down to their summer OC's (3.2HGz and 3.12GHz) so I'm going to loose ~10% of my PPD (plus the 2653s are comming to me less frequently now too 🙁 )

It sucks to tone them down, but hottest Cores were getting up near 65C and it's not even hot here yet.

If I could only find some 800 and 1200 wet/dry sandpaper, I'd lap these things and see if I could buy a degree or two. I tried all the 'major' hardware stores (Lowes, Mnerds, HomeD'pot....) even went to a couple hobby shops (Hobby Lobby and Michael's...)

Anybody have any ideas for me? can you buy sandpaper on line?

Sorry, I didn't log on this weekend so I missed this (missed my milestone too - DOH!).
I have 2 4000+'s running. One on linux and one on XP Pro. Both run the SMP client.

The XP Pro machine finishes wu's without any issues. I have a slight overclock going on that machine.

The linux machine ran into some issues a few weeks ago with this machine not finishing units on time. Before it finished with 48% of the time remaining. Suddenly I was getting hit with units my machine could only get about 89% finished before time ran out. Big difference from 48% of the time to spare to coming up short by 11%.

I had to delete the unit, and for the past week, things have been fine.


So......run the SMP. Hope you get the 26XX units. If so you will be fine. Do you have your machine oc'd a little?
