I haved made two shares in 2k pro. I did this before with a different install of 2k and it worked fine. I set it for all users have full access, anonymous logon, and everything I can think of but it still asks for a password and rejects the admin and any other password. why in the hell will it not just let them be shared without a password. This is driving me insane.

I'm not trying to dis you. Are you logging in as Admin and have you done this on both PC? Something else, are you using dynamic verses static ips?

my shares on the old install would work with any microsoft network client. I didn't have to log into them on another machine through 2k as admin. My machine is always on as admin. The college uses a dhcp server but the ip is the same every time I check it. win95/98 could see my shares before. I didn't think you were dising me. I like any help.

Its IP security and can be found in the TCP/IP properties of your NIC.

Are you sure both machines are in the same workgroup?
