Folder does not open when I double-click it

I was playing with my REGISTERED FILE TYPES setting this morning, and I accidentally messed up my FILE FOLDER settings. When I double click any folder, windows explorer opens a search windows for me instead of opening up the folder contect. I right clicked the folder and I saw the OPEN option wasn't on top of the command menu list (seach option was on top of the list). Well that means OPEN option isn't my default command when I double-click a folder, am i right?. I went to tools\folder options\file types\advanced\edit file types and I couldn't find the OPEN command there. I edited one myself and now I can open the folder content but in a new windows. The "open each folder in the same window" option in tools\folder options\general is ticked. So how can I change it back?

What OS are you running?

When you right click on a folder (or file) the default option isnt the one at the top of the list, the default option is in bold.

My advice would be to go back to the file types menu, and add 'open' to the 'file folder' entry you edited before and make it default.

Hope that helps.

Yeah I know the default option is in bold. But normally the default option is the at the top of the list too. I tried ur advise and it worked..I could open the folder content but in diff. window (the "open each folder in the same window option is ticked"). Anyway it's fixed. It was a registry problem. one key value wouldn't change back to its default value. Changed it back to default value manually and everything is back to normal 🙂
thanks anyway 🙂
