Simple as my stuff says. I have this folder that I made to rip songs off of a cd that i own(music cd "Paul Wall") Anyways, for some time now ive tried almost everything even this program called GPU or some crap that deletes files upon startup..anyhow, this folder will not DELETEEEEEEE...when i delete it, it keeps coming back!!! its like its written into the registry and just wont leave! Please help me out someone =/.

I have seen this a few times.

What we had to do was boot to safe mode, renamed the folder first, and then delete it. I have had it were it still will not delete, and we had to drop to a dos prompt to delete it.

If that doesn't work maybe someone else has a few ideas.

What is the folder name?

Can you do a search in regedit or whatever your fave registry editing yoot is and find the key that keeps making it for you.
Let us know = dont just delete the key cos it could lead to probs, just let us know first.

did the command prompt deal...didnt work...searched in regedit...also didnt work. even tried my norton erase wipe data program and did the option to do a government style deletion(hex and all written) and it still hsant deleted...makes no sense

I found a good link on this a while back - go ttired of having a folder on my desktop for 6 months that I couldn't delete.

From what I remember there is corruption between the 8.3 index and long file name index - since they're out of sync and can't be modified in both as a deleted file, the file never goes away.

Drop to a dos box or command prompt. go to the directory where the file/folder is - do a dir /v and delete the file from a command prompt.

you may have to try deleting it two different ways, as I don't remember which worked for me.

I believe you'll want to use this format:

del filena~1.dir

Good luck.

I tried that dir "/v" no command exists, however i tried deleting it in safe mode...went away, after i restarted and after i deleted some fiels off my desktop it came back...anyhow i have no idea on the command thing, i tried so many variations of the word "dir del" "dir desktop del" etc....anyhow, i am at a loss of what to do, i should have never ripped songs off a music cd..otherwise i wouldnt be having this annoying situation :|
