Posted the same sink in Cases/cooling. Wasn't warmly accepted.

Let me know your results, I opted to wait. If it is good I'll get one on the next round the guy puts up.

Couldn't get your link up. R U talking about the thingy that installs under your CPU? Theres a guy on Aussie Overclockers, DJPAX I think his name is, who was o/c a celeron to some mad specs. He installed the copper thing and started to get problems. Looks like a gimmick to me.

AAAAAAAGGGHHH!!! Dont get that thing near your cpu! i was haveing overheating problems with a tbird 800 (not oced) using that heatsink! It is a piece of crap! Is it only crimped together in a few spots (not nearly as much as one would want for decent conduction), and the folded fins are by all apearances, only held onto the rest of the heatsink in 2 spots, and inorder the get any thermal conductivity between the fins anf the base, they have used standard white thermal goop!
This heatsink is the kind of thing that i could rig up in my basement, except that i dont have any fans like the one on this heatsink. That is, fans that blow air out the sides instead of in the direction they are supposed to. Oh ya, and the clip doesnt apply enough pressure either...
Also, everything else that i bought from the site i got mine from is of similar quality.

Heatsinks are better if they contain more mass. Perhaps you could replace the thermal grease with radaitor patch or some other type of hardener that contains copper.

If you ever had a laptop then you could open it up and see the normal laptop heatsink is not on the cpu, but located off to the side. A copper strip of metal runs from the cpu to the heatsink. (Q: Does a copper strip with a heatsink/fan attached actually work? A: You bet it does! The longer and thicker the strip the better.)

I am speaking from experience. This HSF is baaad news. I spent DAYS tracing the problem to the heatsink! I never would have thought that it was the problem; one doesnt expect an all copper heatsink to fail with an 800mhz cpu. for the price i paid for it, i could have gotten an alpha, too. :|

the opinions are preciated...but don't let one or two bad totally rule your opinions...let the benchmarks speak.
