Have you tried contacting Acer's tech support? As long as the serial number for your machine isn't listed as stolen in their database, they should be able to help you.

I've never had to contact Acer tech support, before, but I have received similar help for myself and for friends from other companies' support staff.

Good luck. :)

Well i know on desktops there is usually a jumper that will reset that password. Usually just having the owners manual will help you locate it. As for a notebook, im not positive, but it seems logical that you could do that too. someone correct me if im wrong. otherwise harvey gave great advice, Acer should be able to hook you up.

On a standard Accer notebook you should be able to reset the password by clearing the CMOS ... its just a matter of getting to it which could be a PITA.
