I was a bit surprised. The RS is a bit lighter and more powerful, right? I guess FWD really does kill it on the track. That said, I think FWD is okay for the street as long as you aren't going all out. I beat on a Mazdaspeed3 when I was shopping and the understeer/torque steer wasn't too bad. Hell my LGT understeers like hell thanks to the sloppy suspension.

Well fix it. It doesn't take much to significantly reduce that behavior.

Yeah it's lighter and has more juice, but there's some electronic gimmicks going on, the RS puts out very pathetic acceleration numbers for it's HP and weight, I think 0-60 is in the 5.6-5.8 second range.

Edit - Much like the MS3, putting HP numbers down to sell cars but not allowing the driver to access that power until 3rd gear.

The euros measure 0-62 times differently. A 2005 Golf GTI in UK's official VW numbers is a 7.2 second 0-62mph car, whereas in US tests, 6.3s is more like it, generally I find they are much more conservative with acceleration numbers.

Yeah I don't see why Ford doesn't bring over the Mondeo. I'm a lifetime Honda fan but I'd totally buy this domestic car if it was available.

Let me pull the $1K for Bilsteins/Pinks/Cobb sways/roll center correction/alignment out of my ass...don't think I haven't thought about it!

Just go for sways dude, that's like 85.299999% of the problem.

I disagree. The car is underdamped and undersprung, as well as lacking roll stiffness. Brake dive and acceleration squat are very prominent as well and adding roll stiffness alone won't fix those. I have ridden in a Spec.B with Pink springs and Cobb sways, on stock tires, and it handled amazingly with excellent ride quality. Won't get that from sways alone.

Body roll has always been my biggest beef with Subaru's. Of those upgrades you suggested, you'll get the most return for your $$$ on the sways IMHO, and I would go Cusco instead of Cobb so you don't have to lube 'em.
