focus group for 100 bucks?

so someone from some research group (the name was inaudible) called and left a message asking me to participate in a focus group on credit cards at 6pm like next wednesday or so, they'll pay me 100 bucks.

has anyone done stuff like this? do they take me in for a few hours and try to sell me shlt? do you have to jump through hoops to get your cash?

i'm a grad student, not one to scoff at an opportunity to make a quick 100 (i'm reminded of the comp-sci surveys worth 100 dollar amazon GC's).

what's the recommendation, do i do it or not?

I participated in one sponsored by the company that made my boat.
It was interesting, they had free soda and sandwiches, and handed me $100 in cash on the way out.
If it really is a focus group then they won't be trying to sell you anything. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I've participated in focus groups before and let me tell ya.

EASIEST MONEY YOU'LL EVER MAKE!

One time I was in a small group of 8 computer nerds (all males obviously and 1 Ferengi) talking about digital cameras, 1 hour = $100 cash, no ssn, no taxes, no check, green $100.

Another time the focus group was on printers $75 for 45 minutes.

Most recently $50 for 1 hour discussing khaki's.

I love it whenever a research firm calls me up, they ask you pre-screener questions to make sure that you qualify, for some reason I always know the right answers so I always qualify

If you live in NJ, the focus group capital of the world, get out the yellow pages and start calling Consumer Research places and ask if they do focus groups, and if so, can they put you on the list.

My kids do this, too.

DO IT If it's a real focus group they'll put you in a room with a small group of people and ask you questions about how you like a product -- e,g,. would you prefer a card with 0% for 6 months and 11.9% after or 2.9% for 6 months and 9.9% after?
