Foam Mattresses on Ebay

I've really needed a new mattress for a long time. I've looked on ebay from time to time and it seems like they have some real nice deals for foam mattresses. I don't know anything about them though. Anyone have some info/advice? I need a queen foam mattress, I want high quality foam...(I assume). I don't want to just put it on the floor though, so I'm not really sure what I would put under it. I need a Queen size. Just looking for any advice/recommendations.

One of the reasons I want a Foam mattress is in hoping that they'll help with my allergies a bit. Also, hoping it'd be much more comfortable to sleep on of course 🙂

there used to be a 15+ page thread about memory foam.

lots of info on memory foam, plus trusted ebay sellers. several ATOT bought from these guys and liked the product + service.

but ic ant find the thread 🙁

I'm looking for advice/opinions from ATOTers. I've already read the foam thread so I didn't search for it. I don't want to research foam mattresses for 2 weeks (though i'll probably end up doing that), I'm eager to buy something. Of course, I don't want to buy a bed that's not right for me. Everyone wants a perfect bed. I just want one that isn't horribly uncomfortable that leaves me very unrested and waking up with back pain...that's the mattress I have now 😛

Who said used? Not me 😛 - I know when most people think Ebay they think used stuff, there's just as much new crap though.

I still haven't got any leads or learnT anything.

why bother? buy it at costco and take it home in the back of your car, for $500. or pay $550 to have them deliver it to your house. worth the price of a membership, IMO.

This is what I did.

What kind of foam, latex? Polyurethane? I'm assuming you mean polyurethane given you mentioned allergies.

In this case, there are certain things you want to look out for. First is the density of the material, you don't want to buy anything under 4lb/ft^3. Anything less will wear down too fast and not provide the comfort polyurethane is known for. Then comes the ILD rating, usually between 10 and 15, 10 being soft, 15 being firm. Tempur for comparison is 14. A matter of preference.

Other than that you should be aware that the material is a good insulator, it gets very warm, too warm for some. A concern for summer heat.

I think the one in the store is different from the one online. I got mine online from them in November when they had a coupon for it. I don't remember off the top of my head how much off I got.

No idea what I want, other than something I'll be happy/comfortable with. Buying a bed shouldn't be so complicated...density, ILD ratings, different brands, lots to consider. I still don't know where I would put it if I got one, don't want to just chuck it on my floor.

How do people like the foam mattress at costco for $550? The price is right. I'm definitely looking for something under $700. Nothing worth looking at on ebay/ebay stores?

I guess it's just one of those hard to buy items, since I really can't test out many foam mattresses, especially in my price range.
