1. I'll probably be getting a Foam Mattress tomorrow (the one on sale at Costco for $475) and my biggest concern is that it will be too hot. I keep reading that foam mattresses can be hot since they collect your body heat and can't breathe...and stuff like that. Will it be noticeably warmer than my current 10 year old box spring bed?

2. Also, do you just use regular bed sheets on these or something specifically for foam mattresses? I know the mattress is Hypo Allergenic, and I'd like to keep it that way. Though I've tried hypo allergenic sheets before and they felt all nasty and papery.

3. Is the mattress really going to smell funky out of the box? People say they do.

4. How long until it fully expands?

5. And lastly, should I just get queen box springs to hold up the mattress or something else? I've heard a lot of different input on what foam mattresses should lay on top of. Some people say you aren't supposed to use box springs, but it says on the box of the mattress i'm buying to put it on box springs, so I'm trusting the box.

Before you drop that kind of money, consider a topper on your current mattress. I buy the $14 eggcrate mattress from Wal-Mart and it makes a LARGE difference in the comfort of any bed. It's not too hot or cold, soft or hard. I can comfortably sleep a year on one. If it works out well, maybe all you need is a new standard mattress and change the topper every year, like I do, for a lot less money. I bought a Lady Americana pillowtop mattress about a year ago and I LOVE it. Price was great, too.

(1) No .. I heard this a lot too & its never been a problem.

(2) Regular sheets are fine if its a relatively thin foam mattress.. mine requires sheets with deep corners because its really thick.

(3) Neither of the two I've purchased smelled funky, but they cost a bit more then $475.

(4) An hour or two maximum.

(5) Your box-spring will work fine, just make sure its sturdy because some foam mattress's are heavier then their spring counterparts.

Thanks.

I'm going to try and buy today if I can. Unfortunately I need a lot more than the foam mattress. I need a mattress pad, fitted sheet, and something to put the foam mattress on. I don't know what to think about what to put the foam mattress on top of. Half say box spring, other half says don't use box springs. If I were to need a box spring I would have to buy a queen sized one, because my current box spring is only a full size, and is real old, saggy, and dirty. I don't know how much a queen size box spring would cost or where to buy one (probably used). It'd be nice if I could just get everything at Costco, I could probably get the sheets and mattress pad there. Though I'm still not sure what i'll put the mattress on. Do I have a choice? What is there for supporting a mattress and elevating off the ground besides box springs?
