FN's Five-Seven gun

It's the same gun Sam Fisher uses in Splinter Cell 🙂

I think it's designed to better bypass body armor than other pistol calibers, but for some reason it doesn't?

the wiki says the military (and I guess police) have a different type of ammo than what is available to the public. the military round is capable of piercing armor while the civilian round is not.

The reason is the unavailability of good ammo for the thing. I myself have a civie P90, which shoots the same round, and I would much rather find one that shoots .22 magnum or even better - 5.56 NATO. The ammo would perform better and sure as hell would be easier to find.

Since you can't get good ammo for the thing, why would anyone spend $700-800 on what is basically an overhyped .22 magnum?

Is the Five-Seven not an effective gun?

as for the motivational poster,

designed to hit the enemy, travel a few inches, then tumble end over end and continue traveling in this manner without deforming. This means that the wound it creates would be as tall as the length of the projectile (more than 21 mm), supposedly creating a more grievous wound channel, but without the expansion of a hollow point or the fragmentation of a frangible bullet.

so basically once it enters your body is just shreds up your insides.
