I just saw this story running on Fox News. They had some woman in a burka reporting on what the Iranian news agency was saying was a US military plane being "forced down" in Iran.

On their website, the have a statement from the Pentagon denying it.

If anyone else has more info....

Edit: I found a Reuters story on it.

Pretty standard fare for violating another country's airspace.

The key word I caught is the Iranian choice of "unintentionally" violated Iran airspace. So I doubt fault attaches to either side but more details may come out later.

It goes to show, hotheads don't manage to turn molehills into mountains every time.

But why would an Axis of Evil country let our plane leave unharmed? Bush told me they're evil, evil people.

WH is saying to not believe any reports from Iran now.

WASHINGTON (AFP)--The White House said Tuesday it was looking into Iranian reports that an aircraft carrying U.S. troops had been forced down but that ithad no reason to believe they are correct. "We're looking into the various and conflicting reports coming from the Iranian 'news' agencies, but do not have any information at this time that would lead us to believe they are correct," said spokesman Gordon Johndroe.

Are you incapable of understanding the security they achieve by keeping separation between their state and their terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah? One will play PR, the other will do the killing.

It was a Millennium Falcon.

It is going to be sad if it turns out the Iranians were telling the truth and a military aircraft landed there after DC denied it and said all birds were accounted for. Could it have been a civilian plane carrying military personnel?

Text
"All aircraft in the region are accounted for and we have no reports of any aircraft landing in Iran," Lt. Col. Patrick Ryder told reporters.

"I haven't heard anything like that," said Pentagon Bryan Whitman.

Some news outlets are reporting it was a Dassault Falcon belonging to a European aid agency.

Maybe the fancy uniforms commercial pilots wear convinced the Iranians they'd captured some US generals. :p

"Terror Aboard Safest Airline"
Headline from FoxNews right now.

WTF ?????????

Oh, the plane had a sudden drop, and the passengers got banged around. Not terrorism.
I wonder how many people would read this and think, "Terrorist Attack"
FoxNews is a sick Republican joke.

No concern for the soldier's lives or families at all. Just a "we deserve it" attitude. Good show, bastards

Looks like they just reported on what an Iranian news agency said; I don't see how that's ineptitude.

I mean seriously, they (nor anyone else) have no way of confirming the story. I somehow doubt that Iranian military officials are in the habit of taking phone calls from Fox News.
