I've always seen a streak that's adolescent and mean-spirited run through a certain segment of the right-wing (think Young Republican/Fox/Rove/National Review).
Remember the phony story planted in the media that the Clinton adminstration had trashed the White House and removed the W keys from computers? There's the recent story how it's common for right-wing sites to use spell check software to replace news stories with their own 'propaganda words', resulting in the recent 'Homosexual crosses finish line' incident, etc., so this is not a big surprise, sadly.
It's sad, because a lot of these people project and assume that others are just as petty as they are.
Even Bush and Cheney show strains of the behavior, from the Bush smirk and 'who cares what you think' to the Cheney 'So?' and 'Go F*** yourself' to a Senator.

Their tactics are right out of Stalinist Russia (defamation, ridicule etc - like Obama's Alinsky). Hitler also used the homosexuals as attack dogs. He came to power with the homosexual Ernst Röhm - who he later had killed. Röhm founded and ran the Brownshirts (SA) - also filled with homosexuals:

I understand that the Rainbow gang is trying to carve out a specil niche in Holocaust history for itself but the facts are a lot of the homosexuals were killed by other homosexuals.
