I used to have ours of fun playing this game and against each other in the 2 player mode is even more fun.
Anybody else have good memories while playing fmsx ?
Interesting hybrid between shoot'n up and strategy game, Herzog has RTS (Real Time Strategy) elements, 4 years before Dune II. In fact, Wikipedia and the Classic Game Room HD review of Herzog Zwei (Herzog's sequel for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive) said that it was the earliest example of a game with a feature set that falls under the contemporary definition of modern RTS.
In the game, the player controls this giant hovering robot/mecha, who can build/spawn units and also pick units to carry and deploy in other parts of the map. The enemy force has exactly the same type of giant robot and the same units. The goal of each map is to destroy the enemy base, located always in opposite sides of the level. The robot itself can't destroy the base, only its units are able to do it, so it's a matter of building, protecting and deploying them in advantageous places.
