So I had my car parked on the street real quick while I ran inside to get something from my house.

Apparently at the same time some guy was driving around trying to find his dogs. He found them, jumped out to get them, and forgot to put his car in park. It rolled back down the hill...

Nice car, unfortunate accident. It does look cosmetic from the pics though.

Hope it sorts out okay.

Wow... that sucks man.

What kind of dumbass hops out of his car and doesn't make sure it is safely stopped and parked?

That sucks, sorry to hear.

But at the end of the day, it's just a car. Glad no one got hurt (that's really all that matters).

looks bad but cosmetic. Now let's just hope that this guy admits his fault and you get the money fast.

Yikes! How far did that guy's car roll, and did he get a ticket?

You should vigorously seek compensation for Diminished Value. Such a shame that your Brand New Car was damaged.

How does one go about seeking compensation for Diminished Value? Is this something I would ask my insurance to ask their insurance about?

I think his car rolled about 4 houses (note this is philly so the houses are touching) and threw an intersection. My car was the first one passed the intersection.

I think he did get a ticket but I'm not sure.

How could it not be his fault?

Haha, yeah, it was clearly the guys fault. And my insurance already called him and got him to say it was his fault on a recording, so I'm not going to be out any money at least for the repairs.

By the way, shout out to USAA as a great insurance company. I was only on the phone with them for about 20 minutes for the initial call in. I guess part way through the phone conversation the rep I was talking to had already multi-tasked it over to an insurance adjuster. He arranged for the tow truck to pick up the car, the rental car agency to pick me up, and booked my appointment with the body shop, all before that 20 minute conversation was done. I literally got a call from the tow truck people saying they were on their way before I got off the phone with USAA.

He then called me about 10 minutes after I got off the phone saying he had already called the guy who hit me, got him recorded as admitting liability, and worked it out with his insurance that they were paying for the repairs.

Since no one else has said it, I guess I'll have to be the one.

That'll buff right out.

everyone always says 'at least no one was hurt'

fuck that and fuck this guy, what kind of asshole forgets to put a car in park? Someone that oblivious will hurt someone if they haven't already

and fuck all state for giving out checks to people who go 6 months without an accident. 6 whole months! yay!!

USAA is amazing. I was a USAA customer for only about a year when I had my first new car (a year-old 1999 Acura Integra GS-R sedan) stolen and stripped. USAA gave me $200 less than I paid for it, brand-new! I have filed several claims with them over the years (only one was my fault!) and they've always been great.

That sucks.
Maybe you'll be relatively lucky on the repair. I don't even see anything leaking. Amazing that nothing was punctured. Make sure you're getting genuine Ford parts.
