FM1 'southbridge' temp question

I just put together a new system with a Gigabyte ga-a75m-ud2h Llano board. It's paired with an A8 chip and housed in a Fractal Design Define R3. Using HWmonitor (TMPIN1 reading) and SpeedFan (Temp2 reading), it's showing what I think is the Southbridge operating at between 85 and 95 C. Anyone know if that is normal for that chip? I've read the Southbridge does run hot, but that hot?
 
I think that's probably too hot for just about any processor. Especially the new ones, as they should be colder than the older ones. Is it on idle though? Just be careful, I wouldn't use that PC until I figured it out.
 
It's not the main APU processor that's running hot. That is running at 38 C at the socket and 10 C at the core, according to HWMonitor. The 'Southbridge' chip that's on the motherboard, and is passively cooled, is running at 85 C. Just not sure if 85 C is out of whack.
 
I'm pretty sure that is too hot. That said, I'm also pretty sure that Temp is not an accurate reading. Make sure you're running the latest version of HWMonitor or the Monitoring software, if any, provided by Gigabyte.

I kinda doubt your system could operate with stability at those Temps. So if it is stable I wouldn't worry about it.

I could be wrong and those Temps might be accurate and indeed normal for that chip, but I doubt it. If you've come across others saying the Temps run High, perhaps you should inquire about actual numbers?
 
@sandorski - yes, it just seems like that temp is too high, but I just got this back from Gigabyte.

A75M-UD2H was silent fanless designed, North bridge temp 85-95 is acceptable. Did sysetm runs fine? any shut down or BSOD issue ? If not shuldn't be problem. Add on one or two case fan if wanted system runs at cooler condition.

So, it appears to be fine. The chip, the Fusion Controller Hub, does draw less than 8W (I think), so maybe a high temp isn't as big a deal?
 
The TMPIN2 in HWMonitor Pro is the compensated APU temperature (with offsets to be more accurate as Tcase).
The TMPIN0 is the system temperature, data from the thermal-resistor placed on the motherboard.
While the TMPIN1 is not used as a temperature sensor from IT8720F. You may ignore the readings on TMPIN1.

However, the Hudson do support temperature monitoring, but this board does not hard wired it. You must use a software that specially designed for reading the Hudson's register value in order to grant the temperature of Hudson (aka. southbridge).
 
BTW, the highest operating case temperature of Hudson is 105C.
If you still be able to place your finger tip on the heatsink for more than 2 seconds.
You won't need to worry the chip down below.
