fm tuner vs fm receiver

hi all

i'm looking at getting a hauppauge tv tuner and one model says it has FM receiver but not FM tuner.

what's the difference between the two?

I wouldnt think there is any difference. Just the word used to descibe it.

In the Hi-Fi world, tuner means it has no amplifier and receiver means the radio tuning is integrated with the amp and preamp. There is generally no amplification on FM or TV cards so technically they are all tuners...
