do you know what would cause my FM tuner skipping on my X800XL AIW Video Card everytime I open new windows and what not, just skips for a slipt sec but it's anouying.

Seems like it does it everytime my computer uses the hard drive.

Is this normal?

any fixes for it?

Thanks

it's almost as if my pc is to slow to listen to FM Stereo with the Tuner thats what it seems like anyway, I have a XP3200, 1 GB of RAM

is your AIW AGP or PCIexpress? i bet its got something to do w/ a bandwidth issue or something like that.... but hey, im a NEW guy to ATI....

AGP, what do you mean bandwith issue?

Doubt it's a bandwidth issue, you're not using all your bandwidth listening to FM radio and using Office apps or whatever you do. More likely it's a memory issue or possibly a page file size problem.

I suggest you go read Tomshardware.com's review on the X800XT AIW. There's a paragraph or 2 in there about a problem with a lag between switching channels while watching live TV and they explain how to eliminate the lag by cabling the video card directly to your sound card and get rid of the 'buffer' that the card uses. I assume the XL works the same way.

And mods, I'm not referring people to tomshardware because it's better than your site because it isn't, it's just that they have the review that includes those details.

yes that sounds like the problems I'm having, to bad the work around is for the TV Sound LAG and not the FM sound Lag and it's confusing to.

I'm pretty sure the FM lag and the TV lag use the same 'AV buffer' through the AGP slot. The workaround isn't all that hard, IIRC you have to use some slightly older Catalyst drivers and run an audio cable to the sound card. You could at least try it to see if that's your issue or not.
