FM Transmitter/Charger for iPhone?

I have an old Griffin iTrip which works fine and charges my iPod, but doesn't support charging on my iPhone.

Are there any decent FM transmitters out there that support charging on the iPhone? Preferably I'd like one that doesn't cost and arm and a leg, and can be found at a B&M store. Probably asking a lot here, but it's worth a shot.

i'd say go for a hardwired FM transmitter. I have the alpine RDS1, or DICE also makes such a unit.

That would be a great soultion, except for the fact that it's about $60 more than I wanted to spend. 😛

B&M will cost you more, typically. Try Marshall's or Ross if you have them in your area.

It might be more than you want to spend, but if you want it to work, it's your best bet. My mom lives in south NJ, about 20-25 minutes from Philly, and when I had the iTrip for the iPhone, it sucked. If you want to try it, Best Buy sells it, but check the return policy on it before you get it, because I'd bet money you won't keep it.

don't you find you get a lot of interference and poor signal? won't have that with a hardwired fm transmitter

Do you mean an FM modulator? I haven't heard of a hardwired FM transmitter, so I'm curious.

I have an iTrip Auto Universal Plus, which I bought because it doesn't use the dock connector to perpetually charge the device, plus anything with a 3.5mm out can be used. I put it in International Mode, and it works great on either 88.7 or 88.9 MHz in the metro Boston area, so no complaints. Ideally I would use an FM mod, or get a stereo/car with an AUX in , but I'm far too lazy.

I never have problems with background noise or interference unless I drive into an area that uses the frequency I'm on, which happens pretty rarely.

Hmm... maybe I'll just wait on it a bit and see if I can get it as a b-day present or something.
