FM modulators.... any advice?

It used to be that i had a tape deck in my car and could bring my laptop on long trips, hook up the cassette adapter and listen to MP3's in the car... well, no tape deck anymore. Has anyone tried using any FM modulators before? how well did they work and how much do they cost?

i looked for them at Best buy online, didnt see any though. (maybe i didnt search hard enough?) Any thoughts on who might carry them?

and, if this sounds like a bad idea.. can anyone else offer any advice? and i dont really feel like burning lots of cd's. i'm too lazy.

I remember reading on Edmund's BMW 3-series forum that a couple people used them with good success. Don't remember models or anything like that though.

Whatever you buy, make sure the place you buy it from has a favorable return policy in case you get a dud.

My brother got a SoundFeeder at Wal-Mart. It was like $20. It is even capable of powering the CD/MP3 player. It worked well enough.

GET THIS ONE OR ONE LIKE IT

i would like to get one like that.. but it requires more installation (hooking it up to the cars antenna lead wire)... which, isnt that hard to do.. but is still a pain and more trouble than i really want to go through.. especially since i may be using it in more than one car.

Oh, and you don't hook the Soundfeeder straight to the antenna. It's actually a very weak transmitter. It won't have the same quality of the directly connected ones linked above 🙂

the soundfeeder is acutally more along the lines of what i was looking for, becuase i'll probably be using it in different cars.. and i dont want to have to install it and take it out later.
