Well...that's one way to go. Possible contempt charge coming up.

Maybe they'll just let it go, he's a good guy after all.

Apparently Trump has still been in contact with him...recently told Flynn to "stay strong".

https://www.yahoo.com/news/investigators-circled-flynn-got-message-trump-stay-strong-145442727.html

Saddled with steep legal bills, Flynn wanted to reconnect with old friends and talk about potential future business opportunities. But one overriding question among those present were his views on the president who had fired him from his national security advisor post.

Flynn left little doubt about the answer. Not only did he remain loyal to President Trump; he indicated that he and the president were still in communication. “I just got a message from the president to stay strong,” Flynn said after the meal was over, according to two sources who are close to Flynn and are familiar with the conversation, which took place on April 25.

The comment came at the end of an especially difficult day for Flynn, during which his legal woes appeared to grow: Two congressmen — House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, and ranking Democrat Elijah Cummings, D-Md. — after reviewing classified Pentagon documents, had just accused Flynn of failing to disclose foreign income from Russia and Turkey when he sought to renew his security clearance.

The sources who spoke to Yahoo News say Flynn did not indicate how Trump had sent the message —whether it was a written note, a text message, a phone call or some other method. (The White House did not respond to a request for comment.) But the fact that the two men have stayed in contact could raise additional questions about the president’s reported request to former FBI Director James Comey to shut down a federal investigation of the retired Army general.

wow

It's looking like this guy is going to wind up facing criminal charges.

Yeah, I mean I'm not sure how you go from begging for immunity to openly defying congress in under a month. He's got to have an assurance from Tweeter in Chief that he'll slide. Hopefully Donny is as correct in that as he is in everything else and Mike gets a nice short vacation at FCI Terre Haute.

I wonder if this means that Flynn is expecting to be pardoned by Trump. Trump can pardon him for contempt and for everything else. At this point, I wouldn't put it past Trump to do this. I honestly can't think of another reason Flynn would think he could get away with this.

Possible but would be an insane political risk.

Right, it didn't stop him from firing Comey while he led an investigation against him. At this point, I think Trump might do it if he was advised that it's technically legal. It would be obstruction of justice, to be sure, but I doubt a federal obstruction statute would be constitutional if used to limit a POTUS's enumerated power to pardon, which is expressed unconditionally in the Constitution. Trump has demonstrated that he is willing to disregard even the worst political optics if he thinks he can get away with something.

Trump will pardon Flynn if necessary, loyalty and family is all Trump cares about.

Pardoning Flynn has nothing to do with loyalty and everything to do with hiding something extremely damning to Trump. Think about it this way... during the Access Hollywood tape scandal the only 2 people that were willing to defend Trump were Rudy and Christie. Extreme loyalty. What did they get in return? Shit on as soon as it was convenient.

If it were one of his kids I could see the loyalty angle. Maybe. But this is all about keeping something from becoming public.

I don't want to start another thread about Flynn, so I'll drop this here:

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article151149702.html

Flynn evidently was no friend of Turkey or Erdogan, until he started being paid to lobby on their behalf. In January the Obama admin asked the Trump transition team for permission to start arming Syrian Kurds for an eventual assault against ISIS in Raqqa. Flynn advised Trump to say no, which he did. Turkey did not want the Syrian kurds armed. Some time after firing Flynn, Trump eventually relented and approved the plan. Trump of course knew that Flynn was lobbying for Turkey when he took Flynn's advice to not arm the Syrian Kurds. As with everything about this administration, this smells really bad.

I don't know. They're both within his legal power. They're both obstruction. They're both terrible optics.

Trump has no mandate to interfere with congressional investigations. Congress has a means to address this should they so decide.

Chaffetz to announce early departure from Congress

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) is expected to announce Thursday that he is resigning before the end of this congressional term, according to three sources familiar with his plans.

Chaffetz did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. Multiple sources say he will leave Congress on June 30.

Chaffetz, 50, is chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the top investigative body in the chamber. He recently subpoenaed James Comey's memos, and invited the fired FBI director to testify next week before his panel.

Chaffetz told POLITICO last month he had begun exploring employment outside Congress. Several sources in the Capitol say Chaffetz has told his colleagues he will appear on Fox News.

I hope he burns in hell.

Pence has again denied any knowledge of this even though he headed the transition. So either he's lying or incompetent.
