Int'l or a domestic flight GiggleGirl?

My friend had to do it without drivers license when her wallet got stolen. I believe other government issued ID works or even a copy of your DL. For her a college ID card was enough. I would call the airline in advance though to check.

You can fly domestic without an ID as long as you have a ticket printed. Make sure to check-in online and print your tickets, because the airline might refuse to give you a ticket without a ID. When you get in line, just tell the TSA agent you don't have it. They will redirect you to the SSSS line, where you'll go through the more through search and pat-down.

Yup, I forgot that part. If you check-in online and print your boarding pass you should be alright but still have to go through the added security so expect it to take longer.

And expect patting, lots of it.

THANKS GUYS
we just called southwest and they told us to check in at their counter and tell the i didnt have my ID. they would put SSS on my ticket for the extra screening but its worth it not to miss my flight. also, im going to have a friend mail me my ID so that i have it while on vacation. do you think first class mail is sufficient??

Any government issued ID with your name, birthday, and address will work. I generally use my FOID(firearms owner's identification card) to get on planes. Haven't had a problem yet.

Have I flown without ID? Yes, at least dozens of times...but not recently...😀

I'm old enough to remember when they really didn't care WHO you were, as long as you had a ticket. No ID required, no security checkpoints, hell, you could even smoke on the plane! For years, when I traveled for my work, I checked in a large toolbox as luggage, and had a bag of tools, including a couple of knives as my carry-on, PLUS I usually had a Buck Knife or something similar on the belt. In later years, I usually had a Gerbertool or Leatherman with me...

Oh for the good old days of convenient air transportation...😉

oh i c. That added security is probably good then. Dont want a stranger to just come in and grab a kid and bolt. Sounds like a good school

I've used my [state] university issued ID once. I pulled it out instead of my license on accident, I guess out of habit of showing it for exams or something. They didn't care.

I lost my wallet the day before I flew back home for Thanksgiving, so I had some trouble getting through security. I had my student ID and photocopies of my passport and license, though, so I showed these to the check-in people and explained my situation; after a disgruntled sigh, I think she marked my tickets for inspection and set me on my way. I had to go through a detailed inspection at security but other than that, it was fine. I also had to explain that I didn't have my license at security.
