Why was Flying Pig banned?

Straying too far from the OP.

I am going to guess they won't tell you if there was no message posted in the post that got him banned like they used to do so much more.

It came after one of his personal insults was reported. That prompted a discussion in one of the moderator forums. After allowing enough moderators to chime in with their opinion, the consensus was to increase his vacation to longer than his previous vacation. (So, he'll be back in 2 months) There was also another post of his that was discussed a couple of weeks ago that should have led to an infraction, but somehow the discussion got put aside. (Advocated the destruction of Islam.) As the straw that broke the camel's back was a day or two ago, I realize that I hadn't gone back through and edited that post. I was busy banning spammers & deleting a lot of spam posts today.

But again, the lengthy vacation is based on his history of posts. Had this been his first offense, perhaps only an infraction would have been issued. He has a lengthy history of making personal attacks & trolling. Everyone knows this.

He was cruising for banning. Still not sure if his posts reflect his true opinion. If they do, it seems like he would be more comfortable living with the taliban.

TFP's posts are like reading the thoughts of an indignant Craig Kilborn. He is pretty entertaining, and the proliferation of "Everyone Knows This" has become a forum meme.

I noticed Avocatto Efreeti banned too and no comment or post - permaban?

Whether you get vacationed for one day or banned forever, the same message "Banned" shows up under your username in all the posts you have ever made and it remains there for as long as the ban lasts.

So was Avocatto somebody's second account?

Me again: Avocatto's ban was only for a few days. A couple of "F U's" & other particular posts, all within a couple hours seemed to escalate it from just needing a mild warning to vacation time. So, it wasn't just one particular post, it was due to several posts. I'll try better to put mod edits in more of the posts that are offending - things that caused infractions, etc., as an indication of what's pushing the line around here.

Aw, I'm gonna miss him. His posts were quite entertaining.

I like the pig. You have to read behind the lines with him. If you take him too seriously, you're just gonna go away pissed. He frequently has insightful posts if you look beyond the ridiculousness. I consider him less of a threat to forum stability than some of the "serious" posters.
