Flying a drone THROUGH a fireworks display!

Stupid time to do that, FAA HS would like nothing elimate personal RC drones and stunts like this just raises flags.

It does look cool though

Yea, valid point, he shouldn't be surprised if the FAA contacts him over this, if the drone had been hit it could have fallen on someone working on the barges or on the water in a boat. I thought it would have been even better without the opera music and just include the sound of the exploding fireworks nearby..

Based upon his Google+ page, it appears that he tried this before, and the drone was possibly shot down? He posted a video in May about some Sunfest 2014, and later in the month, he posted on a giveaway that his Phantom II was shot down. :hmm:

Wouldn't the chance of the fireworks not detonating and falling on someone (then exploding) be higher?

No, the fireworks are shot off from barges in a river or from a riverbank pointed away from anyone, if there is no body of water around they have a certain zone where you can't walk into so any unexploded/malfunctioning fireworks won't injure spectators.

Link dead. I guess it's always going to be a possibility your drone is going to get hit with a mortar and wind up in the drink (along with that pricy Go-Pro camera). A few others are posted on YT but they are comfortably 500 feet or more away, meh, looks like filming it from an apartment balcony, boring..

I wonder why there was no sound. Too much clipping from the explosions? Would be nice to have a GoPro edition with extreme dynamic range on the mic (e.g. >120 dB).

Yea, I wondered that too, not that the music was bad I just thought it would be cool to hear an exploding mortar from 5 feet away!, sure the drone's blades make noise but I would have left the natural sound in the vid..

Why do you hate freedom?

I understand your point but I think he's looking at it from a different perspective, a drone could be used in a number of bad ways (not fireworks IMO) but possibly by someone looking to stalk someone or as a flying "peeping Tom" situation..
