I saw this on my headlines and I AM SO FRIGGEN HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! W00000000000000000000000TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!

I loved clark as a player but I have always disagreed with almost all of his decsions and it seems as if he has been holding them back at times.

They had the press conference at 10, any new word on the new coach?

I liked Hitchcock, but toughness won't make up for speed in the new NHL.

I'm with you lol, I wanted Clarke out for a couple years now, but now that he's gone I don't know how to feel, guess I'm just concerned they'll stop making the playoffs without him now, but we'll definately see.

I liked Hitchcock a lot though, I'm kinda pissed they let him go (unless it's because of something behind the scenes that was ruining the team). The new head coach will apparently be Jon Stevens, head coach of their minor league squad.

Bobby Clarke, one hell of a player, but a huge bust as a GM. The Flyers of the last several years have never been more than a collection of relatively high priced parts that never did gel as a team.

Oh, well, it's only hockey. :p

They came close the year before the lockout if you remember. Keith Primeu put the team on his back and scored so many big goals as the captain, but it wasn't enough in the end and they took the eventual Stanley Cup champs to an Eastern Conference game 7. He was a big lose last season and now, they just don't have the same verteran leadship with Forsberg and Hatcher, and lord knows they need leadership now that they lack speed.

I just hope that this little shakeup will ultimately help the team. I watched the game against the Sabres and was almost in tears. :p

I also didn't like some of the moves that the Flyers made in the off-season.

Clarke made rash decisions every year he was in office with either trying to buy the new team savior, over working half a dozen good young goalies, or hanging on to someone far past their worth (lindros, roenick, forsberg now etc). As much as I hate the flyers this is the best move they've made in 20 years. Maybe the new guy will understand how to draft well and let players mature properly.

Hitchcock. meh, probably could have been kept but if you're going to clean out management its not a bad idea to cut the coach. He always was a bit overrated anyway.

Forsberg is still argueably the best hocky player in the word. I fail to see how he is past his worth.
