Flyers Fans - Roenick takes slapshot in the face

Are you serious? Cuz I gotta tell my Flyer fan buddy about this.. 😱

Ow. Still remeber when Chris Pronger took a slapshot to the middle of the chest a few years ago in a playoff game. The announcers did a big "OOOH, that's got to hurt". He skated for a few seconds and then collapsed to the ice :Q

He was taken to the hospital and the announcer said "Chris's mom, if you are still watching, he said to tell you he is fine". Thought it was kinda cute 😛

That was the '98 playoffs against the Red Wings. I didn't want to see him hurt, but I was glad he wasn't playing against the Wings in the playoffs again that year. 😀

Who was the dude on the Canadiens a couple seasons back who took a full slapper to the throat sliding to block a shot ? Now THAT had to hurt. Talk about sliding the wrong way...

Roenick is tough though... he's been through plenty. He'll be fine.

Flyers' Roenick hit in face by puck

Associated Press
2/12/2004

NEW YORK (AP) - Philadelphia centre Jeremy Roenick was injured Thursday night when he was struck in the face by a puck during the Flyers' game against the New York Rangers.

The puck appeared to catch Roenick in the jaw and he collapsed in a pool of blood to the left of Flyers goalie Sean Burke with 15:51 remaining in the third period.

Roenick was motionless for several minutes before getting up and slowly leaving the ice while clutching a towel to his face. He was later helped onto a stretcher.

Roenick, who assisted on Simon Gagne's goal, is the Flyers second-leading scorer with 45 points on 18 goals and 27 assists.

The Flyers lost another centre less than a minute later Keith Primeau was helped from the ice after a collision with the Rangers' Bobby Holik.

It was the second time this season that Roenick had been hit in the face by a puck. He needed 26 stitches to close a facial would after getting hit by an errant slapshot in practice on January 6.

Cheers,

... and so begins more mandatory faceshield talk.. not that it would've helped his jaw... but ya know...

I don't get why the players can't wear those wire masks, I mean, goalies seem to manage with them.

It's cosidered not manly also player recognition would be impaired and I think stick work would be even more rampent.
