For all of you that know your fluorescent lights, which way is the plastic diffuser suppoed to point, with the prickly side facing the floor, or with the smooth side facing the floor? Maybe you guys in office buildings could help me out here.

I just changed my kitchen lights over to the newer T8 style bulbs and ballasts (no more flicker, and no more noise, instant start too), and forgot which way the diffuser is supposed panel to point.

Thanks in advance.

Right now I have the smooth side out and the prickly side in...someone's gotta know the answer. Google turned up nothing.

smooth side out, makes it a LOT easier to keep clean.

the amount of light refracted by it either way is the same.

I like the new screw in fluorescent bulbs, that you can use wherean incandescent used to go!

Thanks everyone. The T8 bulbs (4 total in my kitchen) are a lot brighter than previous T12 bulbs.
