fluctuating core voltage? what's wrong?

I installed the Asus P3V4X 1.006 test BIOS two weeks ago but it caused my system to randomly freeze when I overclocked massively (for benchmarking purposes ;-D) so I switched back to the 1.005 BIOS. I saw no performance gain and I couldn't overclock higher with the 1.006 BIOS so I wasn't losing anything. Well, now my core voltage will fluctuate up to +.03 above what I set it to. Whenever that happens, I get a warning at boot up. I've had to disable vcore monitoring. While my system can handle 1.89 volts, it's already pretty hot. Asus Probe reports about 1.888v right now. It goes from 1.852 to 1.888. What's wrong with my system?
