I have purchased both the AV-HTB and the SX-HTB. For the extra money get the SX-HTB. There is a bit more lower frequency response - you do not have to use your sub for music. I have purchased their new sub and it is fine. I also have the sub that alot of people bought from Amazon and modded. Subs are great for HT. For music....I prefer not to use them, except for heavy metal and loud rock. Mozart just doesn't sound right with the added lows. Do not listen to non-owner thread crappers. For the money you can't go wrong. When I upgrade I'll purchase Axioms, or another upper mid-level system. I bet for most music and movies I won't be able to hear the difference on a supposedly better system. Better soundstage, yes, but better music and movies - we'll see. I am sure with a better name they'll sound better(!?). Audiophiles are serious about their equipment. I care for my enjoyment, and pocketbook. This is the right mix.

This is price is what it's always been up as, but still you'll never find a better set of speakers then this for this price.

I've got the AV-HTB (when it was $190) matched with a sony 150 watt sub I got from sony.com for $125, and a 5.1 DTS pioneer receiver for $125. making it just about the best sounding system you can get for under $500 (IMO at least). I went around and tried out many HT in a box systems, and I just couldn't find anything that sounded good for the money...

They still don't even come close to my movie HT setup (ascends, klipsch, top end pioneer). But I don't use those much since it's still at my moms... Even with that in mind, I'd still buy fluance again.

Like someone else was saying I wish they'd shrink down the font they use for their logo or use some nicer lettering. What they have done here is make a nice looking set of enclosures, really cheap looking... The name is rather silly too, Fluance? Did they think of the name when one of them were out with the flu? I haven't tried ripping the logos off yet, but sounds like a good idea. I can't remember if they were glued or heat staked on...

metoo, love them for the price.

you may want a sub. i'm currently living in an appartment, so while i would want to add a sub i'm not using one now.

the letter logo comes of the grill pretty easy. i couldn't abide by that metallic logo in the middle of my center channel. there's a small blemish in the mesh where it was removed, but not noticable unless you look for it.

if you order them, try asking to get a grill for the center channel w/o the logo. i don't mind the logo on the towers or the rear speakers, but right in the middle, it does make them look cheap. take the logo off and it becomes a nicely understated black wood finished center.

I own the SX-HTB and I think they are great for the money. I bought it from a local guy who upgraded to $800 Dahlquist speakers after owning the Fluance for 3 month. As a matter of fact, when I went to the guy's place for audition, and after comparing the two sets of speakers side by side, we noticed that the Fluance actually has more bass than the Dahlquist, the sound was clearer on with the Fluance, not to mention the craftsmanship on Fluance was better (agree with the others on the logos though). He was actually a little upset about having to let go the Fluance after the comparison.

Fluance has pretty clear highs, and some people may consider it "harsh". It is pretty good with movies, you can definitly "feel" the sound effect, I can tell the wall shaking a bit when watching Master and the Commander with all the canon firing. But if you want bass that shakes the whole house, yeah go with additional sub.

I use the Fluance with a Marentz 5300 receiver and a NAD cd player, using my HTPC as the DVD player. Pretty happy with the sound from a $250 speaker (actually 220 and no shipping from the local guy, 3 month used :D) . I've heard plenty of speakers and to get significantly better sound, I would have to spend more than 1k for a 5.1 package.

Definitly a great set of speakers for people who just getting into audiophile world and not wanting to invest 2~3K right away. People who say those are crappy speakers either never listened to them or don't have decent components hooked up to them.

These are great speakers, the only ones that I've heard that really impress me more is the Rockets by Onix at av123 but those are $1000 for the set (I have a set of both and the Rockets are worth the price.) You can spend $10k in home theatre equipment without trying very hard but for people who want great sound for a low price you won't beat this set. And don't waste your money on Monster Cable.

I own the AV HTB in a box..but the only thing left from the orginal HTIB set is the front left and right...I have their larger center channel (orginal fell off the wall and broke..my fault) and the rears I have their di-pole surrounds.

VERY good system for the prices. I can't tell if I have a problem with the center channel (orginal worked great until it fell) as I "think" i hear some scratchiness in certian dialogue sequences (like when some yells or screams) but I can't tell if it is the speaker or the Reciever, I have an AVR 300 from HK, and its volume has been kinda acting up (known problem with the AVR300).

How would these compare to some polk audio r50s, with rear fxi30s? Just wondering, i got them a while ago before i ever heard about fluance, if I didn't have them i probably would of gotten a set of the SX-HTB.

Just because someone offers speakers at a lower price, and it isn't a "brand name", doesn't mean they suck. Fluance speakers are good for the price.
The same can be said for my Realistic MACH II speakers I bought from Radio Shack almost 15 years ago. These things sound awesome, even being this old! Many of my friends say, Radio Shack speakers suck, until they hear these babies! They have 15" woofers, and liquid cooled mid-range and super-horn tweeter. Also they have bios control[/b] for midrange/tweeter. The tweeter actually has the range to go up to 40KHz, way beyond human hearing. I consider these Fluance a good buy.

Good speakers can last a lifetime!

I have the Fluance SV-10's and the AV-BP2 Bipolar Surround speaks with a Klipsch sub. I am happy w/ the price/performance ratio. I may be deaf now, so your MMV.

I have the SX-HTB and I have to say that it is a nice set of speakers.

At first i was having this problem with one of my front tower speaker...but i called them up and shipped it back to them, and they sent me a whole new one. So that was great.

I have it match up with my Onkyo TX-SR501 and I think its good enough.

Sometimes I do wish I had a sub so i can crank it up for movies...I do have this problem with my receiver when i turn the volume a little bit louder it shuts off. Its not extremely loud or anything (its like around 27 or so) and i have it at 60Hz...

Any help is appreciated. Oh and sorrie for getting sidetrack.
Great speaker and great service.
