Fact:
The flu kills 30,000 americans a year

Question:
Is it worth getting a 20 dollar flu shot if you are 19 years in good shape and health?

Depends. As far as you keeling over from the flu, not likely. However you interact with the public I assume? I spend a fair amount of time around elderly folks so even though I'm not worried about the flu myself (though I had the real deal a few years ago and don't want it again) I don't want to be the one who brings it as a gift to someone else if I catch it.

Evaluate it that way.

I can't stand needles... wouldn't get a flue shot for this reason and would probably resist all attempts for someone to try to get a blood sample for the same. lol.

I had the flu about four years ago. It lasted for about four weeks of which I spent over two weeks in bed fighting a high fever and all the other unpleasantness that goes with the disease. It would have killed me if I had been older or immunocompromised.

I am getting the shot tomorrow and I hate getting shots.

when everyone reaches a certain age (you know when you're fully grown and gotta have your wisdom teeth extracted, etc.) they ought to take the time while you are knocked out to install a med port. Then no more problems with needles. Need blood? sure just open it up...

I never got a flu shot, even though its free here. I always seem to catch it once or twice a winter.

I got mine. I am 23.
Beats getting the flu.
You can argue all day if it's worth it or not, but if you miss a week of work, that's like a grand down the drain.

I highly doubt you've ever had the flu if what you're getting sick with once or twice a year is what you're calling flu.

Until I caught it a couple years ago I wasn't clear either. You hear about the flu all the time, assume you must have had it at some point, right? And maybe so, some years the strain that comes through isn't so bad, sometimes like this year it's really nasty. But after getting it I regret having ever called a cold the flu.

When it feels like you're taking a deep drag on your 200th cigarette of the day every time you take a breath, when you're exhausted tieing one shoe and need a five minute break before attempting the other, when you're in a permanent crouch so the coughing doesn't hurt quite as bad, when you have to sleep sitting straight up because any incline makes it too hard to breathe and when a sip of water is a meal, then you have the flu.

No choice here

Air Force = Flu shot

It was easy to get out of it before they went to a computer database. Oh well, it's only a little shot.

The flu shot will only protect you from the most "popular" strain in any given year. If you are exposed to some other strain, hold on.

LOL, "popular" meaning what a group of healthcare providers guess the strain to be. This year they were close, but wrong. It will still help though.

Close, that was almost a sentence. Add in some punctuation, grammar and meaning and you'll be set!
