Flower delivery question...

OK so I'm sending some flowers to a relative for her birthday, I've never done it via an online/phone order place, I've always just called a local florist but this is in a place I don't live and I don't really trust just calling a random florist out of the yellow pages, so I'm reduced to using ftd/1800flowers/etc

I've looked around the forum a bit and a popular choice seems to be ProFlowers, but from what I can tell from their website (and they are all a little vague about this) the flowers come via FedEx/UPS/etc in a box with vase included (or not if you don't pay for it)

But what I want is an actual delivery of flowers, arranged, with a vase, etc. Not in a box that has to be opened and assembled. I couldn't find a clear answer on 1800flowers if they do it this way or not, and so I really don't know where to go from here.

Anyone have any info or personal experience/recommendations?

thanks!

bump and for clarification it's in Miami area so if anyone's from around there and knows a good place for local delivery I'd love that kind of help too 🙂

I think ProFlowers just delivers them in a box and will include a vase if you want, but the recipient will still have to arrange it on their own.

If you order from FTD.COM and all of those other places, all they end up doing is forwarding the order onto a florist within the area of the recipient. You're better off saving yourself the $6 fee or however much it is they charge, and flipping through the yellow pages yourself to find a florist. It all ends up being just the same. It's hard to know what the flowers will look like... everything is always up to the designer's discretion. I worked in a florist for a few years and was always shocked at the amount of people who came in to order flowers for overseas delivery or just long distance delivery... and we charged them a $6 wiring service fee. Afterwards, I plucked out the florist phone book and start calling!

You should just find a florist yourself, call them and describe to them the flowers you want and what kind of holder you'd like it in.

i found a florist through ftd.com but then called them directly. It wasn't really any cheaper, but i'm told the flowers were really nice.

If a florist is part of FTD, they can mimic most arrangements featured on the ftd.com website. You can also check Teleflora.com as well and find florists who are a part of their association.
