Flounder is considered to be one of the best fish available. It doesn't have any sort of fishy taste (as long as it's fresh). And, it isn't expensive compared to the other good fish (tuna, mahi mahi, grouper).

It is usually around $10 a pound - but it is worth it. Sometimes you can find it for $8 or $7. It is cheaper than the big fish because flounder is a hard fish to catch and grocery stores seldom have a large amount of it. You can't just go out and decide you're going to catch flounder.. You may catch three in a day - or none. The grocery stores mark it cheap because it goes bad quickly and it's hardly a profit area.

But, if you see some, ask if it's fresh that day. If it is, don't hesitate to buy some! Cook it in a little butter and soy or teriyaki sauce in a frying pan. Cook on medium or low and for a while - until it crumbles when you lift a piece with a fork.

Best fish EVAR. Even if you think you don't like fish, try flounder. It doesn't taste fishy and it's not boney.

EDIT: Almost forgot.. Get the smallest filets available! Since it is usually price per pound, get a bunch of the small filets. They're usually better.

Flounder's okay, but I'll take some nice fresh Rockfish any day over flounder.
