Flounder bone stuck in throat

glen

Lifer
My friend has a flounder bone stuck in his thoat. ANy ideas how to get it out?
Toast? Go to the ER?

How precarious is it? That could go from bad to worse if it dislodged weird. Heimlich might force it out; or into a worse place...

:hmm:

Surprise throat punch is the only way to be sure (bonus points if you make it pop out the side). If it was me I'd probably want to see a doctor. I never had to deal with it though so I have no real frame of reference.

Bend forward at the waist as far as you can so that your head is touching the ground and start thumping on your chest. This occasionally works.

He is ok.
I keep telling him he is a wuss if he doesn't cut it out with a knife.
Must not be that bad or he would already be at the ER.

It can also be that he swallowed a bone that scratched his esophagus. That feels like you have a bone caught in your throat, but it's just the scratch. Can be worse if there is a little bit of an allergic reaction.

This.

He is going to take some ibuprofen.

Potatoes or bread are typically eaten with fish to help coat any fish bones that might accidentally be ingested. It may help to eat some potatoes.

If it isn't serious enough to go to the ER, try having him eat a peanut butter sandwich (don't toast the bread.) My mom had a fish bone stuck in her throat and that was the eventual home method that dislodged it. (and she had already tried rice and... ugh.. drinking vinegar.)

Face is a tracheotomy isn't going to help at this point.

The only option now is a knife through the eye-socket before he becomes a fish-zombie.
