Case in point

Nah I’m not saying the protestors there that day were. I think neo-nazis and antifa are both scum. I think the people talking across the country about the bigger picture of statue removal that day aren’t all bad though. And that larger context even if you don’t like to admit it did exist at the time.

If you knew what the President was thinking you would understand him.
Yes, I believe that's accurate. And many of his thoughts originate from Fox News programing.

Don't deny it, you already know where Trump gets his news. His singular source. If you don't know their narratives you won't know his.

No problem, I’ll tuck this away for the future.

As I said, repeatedly, Trump should have ssaved the words for the press conference regarding that. He spoke directly to us regarding Charlottesville and used those words. Spin spin, like a record baby

Not that anyone expects a coherent message from this President.

Very true, and speaks directly how low Conservatives have now set the bar wrt to qualified candidates to lead our nation.

This admin has been such a clusterfuck, I wouldn't be surprised if Trump was the ultimate democratic troll plant ever. He seems to troll Conservatives on a regular basis.

Just look at what's hes gotten them to go along with.

I think there was very fine people engaged on both sides of the debate regarding removing statues across the US, yes. The people in Charlottesville seemed to all be douchebags, but as we watched the two sides attack each other on TV people across the country were talking about the issue of statue removal and whether that was right or wrong. The protest was held by a bunch of racists and attacked by a bunch of thugs, but the topic of what they were protesting that day (not their rally, but the march that day) was about Robert E Lees removal. Yes very fine people across the country had differing opinions on that. Feel free to ignore the broader context if you want.

Imagine how older black people who endured Jim Crow & segregation feel about statues of confederate heroes looking out over where they live. Bigger than life, memorialized in bronze. You know, people who led the war to keep black people in chains. Southern White people loved 'em back then & apparently love 'em today, too.

The statues were raised by White Supremacists as symbols & monuments to Jim Crow. At best, wanting to keep them shows an extreme lack of awareness of the POV of black Americans. If you can't figure out why they need to come down you're not thinking very hard.

Or just fuck your feelings. MAGA, bitches.

I'm so filled with hage, rate and despite for that type of White Trash degenerate filth that I have nothing more to add.

If they could be deported to Antarctica, maybe they could be happy. A place where everything is White, and a climate their dead hearts can thrive in. Maybe Trump could scam them with Igloo condominiums.

Then -- good riddance.

I’m fine with the statues being moved to be honest. I don’t know about Robert E Lee but that’s just a whole separate discussion. I can definitely see that point of view though. So yes I can figure out why they should come down. I’m not on the Trump train or MAGA either but ok.

Is that true though? He said there was “fine people on both sides”, not that he didn’t think some were scumbags. He wasn’t lumping all on the right there in with KKK just like he didn’t lump all on the left with ANTIFA. People on either of the extremes there are scumbags but a lot of those people were just there to protest the statues (one way or the other).

I may be fuzzy so fill me in if I’m wrong. It does seem as if there’s an endorsement trying to be inserted into there that didn’t actually exist.

Remember when Hillary said, very clearly, that a small number of Trump's supporters fit in a "basket of deplorables"? Remember that?

For some reason, some very fine people thought that "small number of" means "all of them" and "basket" was "the whole thing."

Weird how that works. Why do you make excuses for Trump when you and the rest of the very fine people are wholly unwilling to make the same excuse for Hilary?

Trumpkins get deranged about stuff no doubt. I’m not wholly unwilling to make the excuse for Hillary. Her saying that didn’t matter one iota other than it bit her in the ass because people love taking shit and running with it, just like him saying very fine people. I don’t think using Trumpkins behavior should be the bar you strive for..?

Who uses an intellectual insult like "basket of deplorables", you gotta keep it catchy, short, small words, and words that are easy to spell for the majority of americans

He definitely won some people with his behavior (lost a bunch too mind you). I really don’t think that’s what made independents vote for him (or more than likely against Hillary) though.

He & his Russian pals talked so much shit so many times about Hillary that lies became the truth. Lots of things work that way, from witch burning to trickle down economics to Bernie woulda won if Hillary hadn't cheated him.

You had "independents" here and everywhere that absolutely believed that a photo of her security guard carrying a flashlight was actually an epi pen or some adrenaline pen to shock her heart back into action because they also believed that she was only ever minutes away from keeling over due to some deathly disease. It's not due to honest, factual reporting and information dissemination that these people believed this nonsense.

Using a separate server to hide her emails and then wiping them clean (what with a rag?) lost her votes. All the money funneled to her foundation (some by foreign governments) hurt her. Very highly paid private speeches to Wall Street hurt her. Going into hiding and not actively campaigning hurt her.

None of those are lies. None of those are because of Trump's behavior. That’s all on Hillary.

After watching her fall over into that van like a piece of salami, I'd grasp at straws too.

A pic of a flashlight didn’t cost her the election. Honest, reputable papers all reported on the things I listed above. You’re taking the absurd to marginalize the real problems of her as a candidate.

Add to the mix, the election was sold as a guaranteed outcome. Why bother voting? She couldn't lose.
Or being the incumbent party, having to defend an economy that doesn't work for most people.
Or not being a young and charismatic speaker like her boss. You know, the guy she wasn't good enough to beat.

I know a lot of people still hold resentment over her campaign against Obama too and the tone it took.

Which just further illustrates that baggage was the key factor in this election.
