Florida man who warned he wouldn't 'be around' if Barack Obama was reelected kills himself after the election

Tanning salon owner Henry Hamilton died of an apparent self-inflicted drug overdose two days after the election, and wrote 'F--- Obama!' in his will.

A Florida man who warned that he might harm himself if Barack Obama won the presidency was found dead two days after the election of an apparent self-inflicted drug overdose.

Henry Hamilton, 64, was discovered dead in his home on Nov. 8 alongside two empty bottles of prescription drugs and a living will on which he'd written "Do not revive! F--- Obama!"

His partner Michael Cossey told the Key West police that Hamilton was "very upset about the election results," The Miami Herald reported.

Hamilton had reportedly warned Cossey that, "if Barack gets reelected, I'm not going to be around."

While Hamilton's official cause of death is still pending an autopsy result, a police spokeswoman told the paper that "There's absolutely no evidence of foul play."

Sad. I wonder how much the right wing talking heads affected this guy?

Who should we charge with murder, Rove or Rasmussen?

Sad and stupid move, but on the positive side at least this one didn't bring a gun into a church and take others with him.

And no one tried to get him help when he was all but telling he was going to kill himself if Obama won?

I don't think right wing media is really to blame in a circumstance like this -- a grown man has his own responsibility for moderating his temperament and dealing with reality. Having said that, though, it think it should give pause to media pundits and fear mongers as they realize that their extreme amplification of divisive political rhetoric has real world consequences like this.

The man should have been more reasonable, but I also think the fears he was trying to escape were likely instilled in him, not realized on his own. That's shameful.

Sure be nice if we had some healthcare/drug treatment/mental services for workers down on their luck who let themselves believe the world is out to get them to a level like this.

Actually i think the rightwing media should shoulder some blame. It looks like he was a schizophrenic. The constant exposure to tinfoil hat batshittery from the CEC couldn't have been good for him.

If we're going to spend time discussing suicide, how about doing so about our veteran's situations, who actually deserve our attention ?

Another self made man no doubt. Some pioneer who couldn't bare to go on with life without having the luxury of driving his big wheel truck through society that he believes to be superior to.

What was he thinking, trying to run a tanning salon in Key West, of all places? Also, Key West is one of the top 5 most liberal places in the US, I think.

I think the right wing media is to blame for instilling irrational fears in people, but the people's reactions to those fears are their own.

He was mentally ill though. It's not like he had control of his mind.

Okay, Political affiliations aside...that is freaking insane!

Pretty much. I wonder if anyone complained about his tanning facility is still around. Seriously though, this guy must have had a med list long as your arm or should have. Mental illness is a tragic thing. You can't escape yourself.

There must be some award for just missing claiming your Social Security

I understand you see this as amusing, but it's really not. He had an illness and it's not like he had a choice in that. Couldn't you do something competitively benign like bash on gays or something?
