It's the same bullshit logic banning CRT. Create a law banning something that doesn't exist, then defend it with more lies.

Were there any schools openly discussing gender identity in grades K-3? I'm taking a wild guess the answer is no.

Yet, try passing a law banning guns in schools, gender bullying in schools, racism in schools, things that really exist and you will get silence from crazy right wingers.

The only thing this law does is state a vague generality on which teachers are frightened into remaining silent.

But, but, republicans are just trying to be proactive. These issues are much important than skyrocketing homeowner insurance rates that’s having a real, huge impact on Florida residents.

The GOP brand and the states they control are built on one thing: hating anyone perceived as "other". If you're not a Leave It to Beaver American, you're on the list.
Florida like many other red states has been gaining population unlike blue states such as NY, NJ, Illinois, etc .. Now try to spin that.

People are leaving blue states not because they hate them but largely because of cost of living driven by NIMBYs blocking the building of more housing.

Blue states are also not really losing population. Growth of the population has just been slowed because of the above issue.

High cost of living in major cities due to them being desirable places to live in the first place. A global pandemic in a high population density area also drove people to move.

A single blue state is the #5 world economy. Spin that. See how dumb this game is?

So by your logic Republicans making up laws for non-existent perceived ills is going to entice them to relocate?

How much sense does that make?

Nobody stupid. It isn't happening. Why do we need some vague rule designed just to silence teachers.

Meanwhile guns in school a real problem you and the rest of the right wingers sit on your hands.
Would you like to make a wager on that?

Actually there already is an example. A gay teacher was asked by a kid what his gay pride bracelet was. The teacher was fired.

I’m glad we are continuing to shield children from people who are different than them, history shows that generally works out for society as a whole./s

It’s always easy to spot the person who grew up and never ventured outside their bubble.

K teachers are not having lessons on the finer points of being gay or trans. Is it possible a discussion may come up based on a question from a student? Yes. Your answer is to sue teachers out of a job.

Meanwhile continue to sit on your hands on a REAL issue mass shootings in schools

There is no need for a teacher to discuss sex with children ages 5 - 9 and that's what Florida's bill covers. Those kind of discussions are for parents.

It covers whatever they want it to cover because it’s extremely vague. You would know this though because you get your information from Shit sources like the New York post.

Pretty sure it'll be used much more broadly, like people suing a teacher for saying it's not OK to bully someone because of their gender identity. Just like the anti CRT laws trying to ban talking about race at all.

Why would a public school teacher discuss gender identity with children as young as five years of age.

Yes! This is EXACTLY why teachers should be allowed to discuss this sort of thing with students. If a child is being bullied due to their gender identity how can a teacher address that without discussing gender identity resulting in a lawsuit by some snow flake conservative parents?
