I agree with his overall point of contention, but he also has to realize he has very little chance even if everything else goes his way. And he must know that pointless and frivolous lawsuits are just a waste of everyone's time (except the lawyers).

I have a feeling the state Dem party would have decided differently if they weren't currently the WH incumbent. They might be taking away his "chances" at running, but for them to give a no-name a shot at debating with Biden when he's the expected candidate...I can see why they decided not to. It costs the state organization/party money, after all.

I do think his reaction was a bit exaggerated and knee-jerky.

It's not like the guy had a chance. It also looks like we're going to have another Trump vs Biden election. I wonder how many folks will just stay home?

A ton of states did this for Trump in 2020. Except then it was actually the state governments, not the state parties. I don't really agree with it, if people are running there should be an election.

There is no Constitutional or legal requirement that primaries even be done by vote. The party leadership decides how it is done.

Furthermore, any person from the actual left who seems to think it's a good idea to do anything to harm Biden's electoral outcome against Trump is a problem. I support the party doing whatever is legal and necessary to harm his candidacy. We don't need another egotist trying to call attention to himself by standing on a debate stage and taking pot shots at Biden, thereby increasing the chance of Donald Trump ruling this country come 2025.

I’d get rid of all primaries, period. Primaries have produced an endless parade of lousy candidates. Go back to caucuses and smoke filled rooms. Let the parties decide who they want to run.

It seems vaguely undemocratic, but I do agree 100%. Primaries decided by party leaders are going to select establishment candidates. This is how we keep from going off the rails. We can't have more nutball/celebrity/populist candidates getting through, like Trump and that clown they now have in Argentina. Maybe not being quite so democratic on this one aspect of the process is how we could actually save democracy.

Does the smoke really help? Seems like they'd get the job done quicker if they used rabid dogs instead.

I think if we are going to have primaries more states should adopt the California jungle primary. It’s the most fair system.
