floppy+sblive problem in xp!

Hi! I have a few problems that I can't find solutions to...any help would be appreciated..

1) My floppy drive randomly reads (never happened before in windows ME)
2) The system lags a lot (just moving the mouse around randomly...i can feel it moving slower at random times)
3) Sound (music etc. from wmp and winamp) skips a lot ... prolly has something to do with the lag and the mouse.

system:
Logitech optical mouse (usb)
abitkt7raid w/ duron @1ghz
384 mb ram
30gig maxtor 7200rpm hdd (i also can't get dma to work ... it detects a scsi drive)
sblive value (the old one ... no digital out)
linksys 10/100 nic

I've updated the drivers and everything...still doesn't work

thanks in advance

Do you have Norton Anti-virus installed?

Ive read that some Norton programs may cause this.

START / CONTROL PANEL / PERFORMANCE & MAINTENENCE / ADJUST VISUAL EFFECTS
Try setting for BEST PERFORMANCE or customize it & see if its something in here causing the lag.

Im using the Logitech optical mouse hooked to usb port on my WinXP pc also.

Did you update the driver from the Windows update page?

wow thanks for the links guys!

sorry i haven't had access to the internet in a while ...

i don't have performance and maintenance in control panel...wierd...

ok i'll look around...and try these drivers

the drivers you linked were already installed 🙁 ... so they don't work...

i don't think the sound issue with the board is my problem ... i just think it's the os ... because everything worked fine in ME and 98 ...

there's something wierd about the system ...

very laggy and all ...

thanks for the links though
