Floppy refresh problem

When inserting a second (and third, etc) diskette the floppy drive still lists the contents as what on the first diskette. If looking from My computer - Drive A: hitting the F5 key works part of the time but so far has never worked when viewing contents through Win Explorer. Same problem when opening a MS-Dos window. Insert a diskette and type "dir a:" - contents will be correct. Insert another diskette and type "dir a:" again and it will still show the contents of the first diskette.

Fresh install of Win 98 on an older P166 system.
