Floppy Problem With Asus A8N-SLI

Has anyone ran into this issue with a A8n-SLI? I have a mitsumi Floppy/Card Reader combo. Card reader on usb 2.0 bus. When a floppy is inserted it can not find the disk. It says insert disc even though there is one in there. Cable on the back of floppy is correct. The other way the light stays on all the time. On the mobo it is correct i think because with the asus cable it has a blank spot where there is no pin on the floppy port on the mobo. Any opinions? Like I said the card reader works but no floppy. It lights up and makes sounds like it is trying to read the floppy.

Actually making progress now. Took a floppy out of old puter and floppy worked ok. Must be the drive at least i thought til i hooked up card reader one. Now when a disk is inserted it says not formatted even though another can read the disk. Any ideas? I really do not want to scrap a 40.00 floppy

And the floppy cable is oriented correctly, red stripe on Pin1 at both the mobo and drive? And the section of floppy cable with the twist in it is between the drive and mobo?

i ordered a mitsumi floppy/reader combo...... i also noticed that multiple people said the drives are POS and fail often

Yeah mech all set up right. The other floppy that worked set up the same way. Something with this mitsumi POS. I just went and bought a black floppy drive to replace it til i can put it in this puter. It worked fine in this system it is just the new build with the A8N-SLI that it would not work in.
